Born in Luxembourg, Claude Schlim studied the euphonium with Robert Weyland and Rudi de Bouw at the Conservatory of Esch/Alzette. With de Bouw he continued studying until he received the Concert Diploma. At the same time, he receives his conducting diploma in the class of Fred Harles.
Additionally, Claude gained distinctions (premier prix) in piano, chamber music, sight-reading, harmonics, orchestration, theoretical and practical teaching.
Claude Schlim pursued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, where he completed his master’s degree in music under the supervision of José Schyns. Alongside his studies, he participated in different master classes with renowned professors such as Robert B. Childs, Steven Mead, Olivier Hass and Nick Ost.
He currently works as a music teacher at the Conservatory in Esch/Alzette and writes compositions and arrangements for ensembles and symphonic wind bands. Since 2003, he has been the musical director of the Harmonie Eischen and since 2016 he has been conducting the Brass Band of the Conservatory of Esch/Alzette.
As a member of various ensembles and orchestras, like the Trio Aurora, the Luxembourg Tuba Consortium, the Heavy Tubes Quartet or the Harmonie Municipale Mondorf-les-Bains, Claude Schlim frequently performs in Luxembourg and abroad.
Since 2015 he runs his own recording studio “Schlim Tounstudio”.
